You’re probably here because you (or your child) is struggling in their math class. When struggling and not understanding, it can be incredibly difficult to start finding success if someone doesn’t believe that they can actually be successful. They might say “I’m not a math person” or “I’ll never be able to do this” to be able to shrug off the misunderstanding. Well, I say “rubbish”. Just like learning an instrument, playing a sport, riding a bike, or learning how to ride a skateboard, it may take people different amounts of time to succeed, but they’re all capable. I’m a firm supporter of Carol Dweck’s writing and the research behind the growth mindset vs. fixed mindset. A fixed mindset says “I can’t” but a growth mindset say “I can’t yet”. That “yet” is important with learning math. I find that once students find just a small amount of understanding in a safe environment, they’re empowered to do it again, and again, again. Let me help you (or your child) find your confidence with math again and boost their math grade.
My ultimate goal is to empower students to be able to conquer math concepts on their own and be able to succeed in math independently. My goal is to work myself out of a job. I’m an experienced teacher and tutor at the high school and middle school levels. I can help with your middle school and high school math needs (pre-algebra, algebra 1, geometry, algebra 2, pre-calculus, calculus, AP statistics). Set up a weekly session or just meet to review before a test.
I tutor online using Google Meet. I share my screen while I use a graphics tablet and write on my screen.Curious about how online tutoring works? See my Frequently Asked Questions page. Wondering if I can help? Check out what other parents/students have said.
I am thoroughly convinced that tutoring online is the way to go. You get a quality professional to help your child without having to make one more trip to the local library or coffee shop, and I get to maximize time with my family as well.
